There was no stopping the Greenwich High School boys volleyball team after it dropped the opening game of its match against visiting Trumbull Friday.

Determined not to suffer its first loss of the season, the Cardinals pulled out the next three games and posted a hard-fought 3-1 FCIAC win against the Eagles.

Greenwich (4-0, 4-0 FCIAC) won the match by game scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18.

"We started fighting back at the end of the first game and we came out strong in the second game," Cardinals coach Peter Georgiou said. "The guys pumped each other up."

Steven Leonard recorded 19 service points with four aces and added 10 digs and 38 assists to lead Greenwich. Brian Leeds had nine service points, 22 kills, 18 digs and four blocks, while Greg Conarroe added 13 service points, including two aces, 11 kills and 14 blocks in the win.
